Quinn

Quinn is a bright and inquisitive nine-year-old with a grasp of concepts that often surpasses his age. Operating with high intensity and abundant mental and physical energy, he is an independent thinker who ‘marches to the beat of his own drum.’ He values authenticity and connects best with those who take a sincere interest in his pursuits, rather than simply following peer pressure.

A lover of narrative since toddlerhood, Quinn has transitioned from listening to stories for hours to creating his own through stop-motion animation. While he loves the worlds of Harry Potter and Star Wars, he also dives deep into new, evolving interests. This includes a love for strategy and gaming—ranging from board games and Pokémon to Fortnite and Minecraft. On the athletic side, perhaps influenced by our former au pairs, Quinn has developed a real passion for soccer over the past two years and hopes to play on a travel team this spring. A persuasive negotiator and enthusiastic investigator, Quinn greets the world with endless questions and curiosity.

Callen

Known affectionately as “Cali-Bear,” 7-year-old Callen is the family’s designated cuddle bug. Generally happy-go-lucky and good-natured, he is a vibrant mix of energy and creativity. He loves singing at the top of his lungs and has a need for speed, often found racing his bike or scooter.

While he looks up to his big brother Quinn and wants to do everything he does—especially building elaborate worlds in Minecraft—Callen has his own distinct spirit. He is the more athletic of the two, with a strong interest in basketball, baseball, and soccer. He is also deeply imaginative, frequently translating his ideas into detailed Lego builds or original artwork. Although he enjoys the occasional brotherly antagonism, he plays well with Quinn most of the time. Unlike his brother, who enjoys hearing about adventures, Callen prefers to live them; he is always the first to try something new and head out into the unknown.

Vanessa and James

Vanessa and James met back in college and have been married for 19 years. Both have busy full time careers, Vanessa working as a neuroscientist and James as an emergency room physician. Both enjoy spending time with family and look forward to large holiday gatherings or more casual weekend get togethers. In down time, Vanessa enjoys reading, attending her book club and exercising. James enjoys working in the garden, gaming with the boys, following Notre Dame football and nerding out on Star Wars.
